One of the greatest commandments is to give thanksgiving to the Lord, for all He has done for us. In Psalms 100:4 we are taught to:
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
We all have people we’re thankful for and Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to show them how we feel about them. Here are some ways you can show your gratitude to the Lord, your family, and friends.
Remembering – The best way to show true Thanksgiving is to remember the Lord. It is hard to give gratitude to God if we never think or speak of Him. When we remember the Lord, we are choosing to think, speak, and act as He would have us too. Another way we can remember the Lord is by memorizing scriptures and quotes on gratitude and Thanksgiving.
Giving – When you want to show someone you’re grateful for them, it’s always a good idea to put some thought into what you give it to them. Receiving an unexpected gift is a great surprise that is a great way to show gratitude and Thanksgiving to someone and let them know they are appreciated.
Writing letters – This classic way of communication is a dying art that is widely appreciated. A handwritten letter can brighten up anyone’s day. Try including your feelings of gratitude in your letter, the person that you are sending the letter to will know that you took the time send a special letter to them.
Prayer – A great way to be in a spirit of Thanksgiving is by showing your Gratitude to the Lord is through prayer. The Lord invites everyone to give Thanksgiving through prayer for all he has blessed you with.
Volunteer – I do not think there is a way to show your gratitude than by serving the Lord through serving others. Doing whatever we can to help in our communities can make a big difference. The more you volunteer and serve you’ll be grateful for serving rather than being served.
Journal – An excellent way to show Thanksgiving to God is by keeping a gratitude journal. A gratitude journal is more than just a list of your blessings, it’s a way to record what God has done for you.
Quality Time – Sometimes the best way to show someone you’re thankful for them is to simply spend time with them. This can be special time with the Lord, friends, family, and yourself. We’re all busy and finding more time in our schedules can be hard, but it’s worth it. It’s important to be present and thankful for the time you get together.
However, you can find ways to give thanks to the Lord, friend, and family for all of your blessings throughout this year. Instill the habit of an attitude of gratitude, which will extend far beyond Thanksgiving Day.
